Indian Independence Day celebrations at IIT Kharagpur

"Ae mere watan ke logon, tum khub lagaa lo naara
Yeh shubh din hai hum sab kaa, lehra lo tiranga pyara"

On 15th August 1947, India gained independence from the British. 71 years have passed since then and India has developed in economy, science and technology, military, and human development.

On 18 August 1951, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) was founded at Kharagpur, West Bengal, India. It was the result of the dream of then Indian prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru of making a self dependent modern India and the perseverance of then chief minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy and educationists Humayun Kabir, Jogendra Singh, and the Sarkar Committee headed by Nalini Ranjan Sarkar. The idea was to train engineers and scientists to rebuild India. Later, 22 more IITs were also established.

La Obscura brings to you some glimpses of the 72nd Independence Day celebrations at IIT Kharagpur.
